Bread From Heaven

Its past 2 a.m. and I can’t sleep. Was thinking about what to do when a mail came in from http://www.thevinetoday.com.
To say that I was glad only makes light of how I received it.
What greater way is there to start a day than with hearing a word from God. Just in case you stumble into this blog or you don’t know about thevinetoday.com, its a site that mails free devotionals everyday. You could also subscribe to the site above and get free inspirational boosters to start your day and guide you through the day.
On reading the mail, I was beyond glad. Inspired, motivated and encouraged best describes me.
Today’s word talks about the Bread from Heaven and gave instances of when its been received in the bible. In some places, the bible mentions that angels came and ministered to Jesus, or that a spirit came to minister to Jesus and helped him. Imagine Jesus loosing hunger because he was busy doing the right thing.
I’m sure in John 4, the disciples would have really felt funny and maybe angry that after going to buy bread, they returned and found his hunger departed when they were probably expecting Him to gobble the food they’d bought up.
Well… The way Jesus felt satisfied from doing good and living his purpose is the way a lot of us feel when we’re sure we’ve done something right like help out a friend in need or cater for the sick or just put a smile on someone’s face. So satisfied that even the feeling of hunger disappears.
Sometimes when you’re on a one way track, you even begin to feel stupid; when everyone is heading left and you seem to be the only one on the right track… like when everyone has devised a means to cheat in the exams and you’re clutching your books to burn the midnight candle, or when everyone else does something or subscribe to a certain thought just because it is fashionable and you don’t because you subscribe to the bible.
Its okay to feel odd and even down … But like the Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego, there’s also a fourth man in the fire for you. Like Daniel, the mouth of the lions against you will always be shut. Thus when Paul prayed for thorns to be removed from his path, he received word that said ‘My Grace Is Sufficient for You’.
Being a Christian does not mean absolution from life’s troubles. It instead qualifies us for grace to stand tall amidst life’s troubles and declare that there is a lifting up when others are crying about a casting down.
So are you at the point of giving up today, or just about to budge into some negative kind of pressure, or almost at the brink of letting go of your faith, or worse still about to declare that you will never do any more good because there are too many ingrates… Stand up in faith today like one who has received sufficient grace (and indeed you have) and declare to the world just like Jesus did in John 4 vs32 that “I have food to eat that you don’t know about” and go on doing that which you were called to do.
